INSTRUCTIONS (READ CAREFULLY)

General hints

BE PATIENT, I'M MASSIVELY DEBUGGING THE Z80 EMULATOR ... THE NEXT RELEASE OF JX-SPECCY WILL PROBABLY FIX MANY GAMES

JX-Speccy is a ZX-Spectrum emulator written in Java. From this page you can play more than 5500 ZX-Spectrum games online. Click on a letter in the frame above: a list of games beginning with that letter will appear. Then click on a game title: a new window will appear with the emulator running the game you've choosen. If you want to play another game CLOSE THE WINDOW WITH THE EMULATOR (don't simply switch back to this page) and then click another game (doing this will save a large amount of memory and you can try all games without any loss of cpu speed). If you want, in the game-list window you can choose to play a game in a low-resolution screen (click on "small") or in a high-resolution screen (click on the game title).

Remember that SOME GAMES WILL NOT WORK WITH JX-SPECCY EMULATOR (ZX Spectrum128 games, for example).If a game (not a 128K one) doesn't work, signal it to me:

How to play the games

The keys used vary from game to game, so I suggest you to read carefully the instructions on the game screen; if the keys are not shown you must find them by yourself. These hints may help you:

  1. if you choose KEMPSTON JOYSTICK as game control (almost all ZX-Spectrum games support it) you can use the cursor keys (to move up, down, left, right) and the TAB key (for fire/jump/action);
  2. many games support or use cursor keys (or cursor joystick), in this mode: 5=left, 6=down, 7=up, 8=right, 0=fire, 9=fire2;
  3. Q=up, A=down, N=left, M=right is another frequent key combination;
  4. the most frequent keys used to begin a game are: RETURN, 0, 1, S, SPACE ... try them

The games archive

All the games are available for download at World Of Spectrum, also known as WOS ico_wos.gif (5291 byte)  (one of the best ZX-Spectrum sites :-).
The games list is extracted from the archives used by "The Spectrum Games Database" ico_sgdnow.gif (1266 byte) (a great program!)
